Isaiah 54: 2-3—“Enlarge the place of your tent and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left…”
God has called us to more than what we currently have. He has called us to be more than what we currently are. He wants us to become everything He desires us to be, not everything we are comfortable being.
Many people, especially Christians, are in this “comfort” zone where everything is ok. Things aren’t great, the blessing isn’t abundant. But on the other hand, it’s not too bad, either.
We get to the point where we don’t want to give God any more of ourselves because we might be uncomfortable. We might hurt someone’s feelings if we preach the gospel, or if we point out a problem with their “religious doctrine”.
The time has come for real men and women of God to get beyond careing what others think about them. We talked before about not being ready to live until you are ready to die. Well, that doesn’t sound very much like a rose colored life to me.
So, you say you want to be like Jesus, do you? You want to live your life by His example? Then are you ready to be hated? He was.
Are you ready to be despised? He was.
Are you ready to die? He did.
But even through all of that, He was victorious. And if you are willing to yield control to Him, you will be too.
If you want to talk the talk and stand back while others walk the walk, ok. If you have at least truly accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, then your eternity is assured in heaven. But what kind of a life is that going to give you here?
God wants us to yank the steaks of our life out of the grounds of comfort and move them our further in our lives. He wants us to stretch the curtains of our dwelling beyond what we now know to experience the fullness of His blessing.
But it is a choice.
If you choose not to enlarge the place of your tent, then it is you, not God, who is missing out.
However, if you are ready and willing to uproot your comfortable little life and give God charge over it, then He will take you to places in life that you never thought you could get to. All because you decided that you would enlarge the place of your tent!
